Colorado outfitters & guides
Every outfitter here is listed with its official Colorado registration number, pulled from the state's own DORA licensing records and shown with the date we verified it. Colorado law requires hunting outfitters to register with the Division of Professions and Occupations, so a registration number is the single fastest way to tell a legitimate operation from a fly-by-night one — and no other Colorado directory shows it. Colorado DORA/DPO registry
This is a first, hand-verified batch — the directory grows from here. We don't rank outfitters, we don't take payment for placement, and there are no star ratings: the registration data is the credibility. Every outfitter here cleared two checks — an Active state registration and guided hunting confirmed on the outfitter's own website — so the card tells you something real before you send a deposit.
How to read a listing — and verify it yourself
Each card carries the official state fields plus what we confirmed:
- DORA reg. number (e.g. OUT.773) — the outfitter's official Colorado credential. Click it, or search the DPO license lookup by name, to pull the state record yourself.
- Status & expiration — outfitter registrations are annual and renew each March 31. "Active" is what you want to see; the state record also shows any disciplinary action.
- Species — the quarry we confirmed on the outfitter's own website, not a guess. Always confirm the specific units and seasons with them.
- Verified date — when we last matched the record against the state dataset and the outfitter's site.

Before you book
A registration number tells you an outfitter is legal to operate — it doesn't tell you they're the right fit. Our how to choose an outfitter guide walks the DORA lookup step by step and lists the questions to ask and the deposit norms to expect, what a guided hunt costs sets price expectations, and drop camps cover the middle-ground option. Out-of-state hunters should start with the non-resident guide.
Common questions
How do I know a Colorado hunting outfitter is legitimate?
Check that they hold a current Colorado outfitter registration. State law requires it, and you can verify any outfitter by number or name in the DORA/DPO license lookup. Every listing in this directory shows that registration number so you can confirm it in one click.
Do you rank or rate the outfitters?
No. We don't rank outfitters, sell placement, or post star ratings at launch — the verified registration data is the credibility. We show you the official record and the questions to ask; the choice is yours.
Why is your directory shorter than the state outfitter list?
Colorado registers hunting and fishing outfitters under one "outfitter" credential, so the ~960-strong state list mixes big-game guides with fly-fishing and rafting operations. We only list an outfitter once its own website confirms guided hunting — so you won't find a fishing guide miscategorized here, but you also won't see every registered "outfitter."
